I am actually in the process of designing my bedroom, and I chose a zen theme. Use a light tan color on the walls, and have small black accents. Clutter-free is key! I think bamboo is a great way to make your theme noticeable. Bamboo mats, lamps and a simple vase with bamboo shoots will really tie the room together. Bright colors are okay used in minimal amounts. A light hardwood floor is fine, as well as a light cream rug. Blacks and whites should be used a lot, but remember to use creams so the room doesn’t feel to sterile. I think a small fountain would also be great. Black frames with asian symbols inside would be neat as well. Although they are technically different, look to the feng shui style for inspiration.

Minimalism is the best way to approach it. Sparse furniture. Few wall decorations. Very light colors for the walls, preferably in earth tones. Perhaps one or two tatami mats, either as backgrounds for wall decorations, or as floor coverings.

the whole zen/fen shui thing can’t simply be asked in one of these questions. you have read stuff on your specific set up. for example you bed should be facing the door, same if you have an in house office – the desk should be facing the door (opens you to new opportunities). you might want to get SEVERAL BOOKS on the idea or HIRE an expert as there are many things you have to consider about EACH room.
