I knew two people that went with that major and they had mixed results. One graduated, tried to find work in it, found that it is indeed very limited and went back to school to pursue a Finance degree.

The other one graduated and found work in a JCPenney's as an interior product placement assistant manager. (She essentially helps fix how the store looks, shifting things around and so forth). She's been somewhat happy with it, and makes a somewhat decent salary ($30,000 to $40,000)

So for whatever it's worth hope this info helps. It definitely would be something great for your passion in art and fashion, but at least from these two examples something that requires extra effort in finding the right work.

No, that field offers very limited jobs and limited pay. Like the previous poster said, it's all about luck. It is a fun career though.

interior desgiin is one if those jobs that you really need a little luck. Like fashion design you have to be willing to work as a intern with very little ( or no) pay for a few years, either after getting your degree or at the same time. Most interior deginers are self-employed so you would probably be looking at setting up your own business.
if you work in a city like Los Angeles you could probably make a lot of money... but somplace like omaha probably won't work out.
